3 | I never thought to see you again, almost like a trinket lost to the churning seas, never to be held again. I am scared this is only a dream.

bonus There was a commotion as Tirendall burst through the double doors, throwing them open with more strength than a mage ought to have. It startled half the nobles and he was aware of a dozen sets of eyes turning away from him and to the source of the sound.
"Your highness," he said, panting, "I know it is very bad timing, but there is something that we must speak of."
He raised an eyebrow and invited further elaboration as to what could be so important that the mage would crash the year end ball. But before Tirendall could elaborate, there was the shout from the guards and a loud crashing sound. He rushed out followed by Elaine and his son. Tirendall didn't say anything, but there was a furrow in his brow. He wondered what trouble could find them in the walls of Lowenburg.
But as he rounded the corner, he stopped. Stood completely still, breath caught in his chest.
There, in the hallway, a girl was standing above the downed body of a man he recognized vaguely as Tirendall's attendent.
He would recognize that back anywhere, even ten years unto the future, twenty. He would know her by the sound of her breath, the sway of her hair in the wind, the way she turned to look back at them.
"Hello Theo," she said.
