thursday thinking

Arts:
  • IT'S TIME FOR FOOD!!! Design and illustrate a favorite dish of one of your characters. Drawing can be sketchy but should be colored.
  • You can use elements of existing dishes but try to incorporate what you know of the character's preferences and put a spin on it.
  • Award: 2 Random Stamps and 1 Notoriety Point
  • Bonus stamps:
    • 2 additional Random Stamp for designing an additional dish from a different meal category than the first (e.g., a dessert to go with a main dish).
    • 2 additional Random Stamp for sketching a partial ingredients list with notations that indicate either research on real world foods or development of in-universe food lore. Not every ingredient needs to be notated.
Writes:
  • Write a drabble about a character's favorite food, or their relationship with food.
  • Award: 2 Random Stamps and 1 Notoriety Point
  • Bonus stamps:
    • 2 additional Random Stamp for formatting the piece like an excerpt from a food critic's magazine or a journal rather than anything-goes prose.
    • 2 additional Random Stamp for writing up a partial ingredients list with notations that indicate either research on real world foods or development of in-universe food lore. Not every ingredient needs to be notated.

You may choose to fill both the art and writing task for full points. Additions to your submission can be commented separately if you want to return to the prompt for the bonus stamps.

As usual, you can put "screen" or "hide" in any comment title to leave it screened.

This post will be open until Sunday 10 December.

SHIBAKAO'S AMAZING 5MIN ONE-PAN BREAKFAST
- one trusty skillet, size depending on number of people you intend to feed (make sure all ingredients lie flat
- 1 egg per person
- oil (olive preferred, but beggars can't be choosers)
- 2 slices ham per person
- 1 sausage per person
- 1 thick slice of bread per person
- jam, honey, salt, pepper, to taste.
- butter, if people want their toast sweet for some reason

FIRST: set toaster to med-low and place pan over heat and add small amount of oil & sausages to pan.

SECOND: drizzle oil over bread, salt & pepper. place bread in one layer
IF over campfire, stick bread slices on a skewer and position close to fire, but not close enough to burn. make sure fire is low.
IF someone wants sweet toast, instead of oil, salt, and pepper, coat one side with butter and toast.

THIRD: shake the pan to spread the sausage fat & crack the eggs one at a time. when they've set (15 seconds) cover with lid. if not enough room, slide the sausages to the side.

FOURTH: when edges of eggs are crispy and the white not completely set, sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. at this point the eggs should not stick to the pan, so slide them around and find space for your ham/canadian bacon.

FIFTH: remove eggs from pan. the whites should be entirely set but no bubbles in the white. remove toast. remove meat. season to taste. eat.

SIXTH: make someone else do the dishes.
